There is freedom waiting for you.
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask "What if I fall?"
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?
- Earnest Hemingway
Are you interested in literature and poetry? Then you have come to the right place. On this blog words are what matter, and not in the general way, but in the specific. Literature and poetry is perhaps our finest way of expressing emotions and opinions. Furthermore, it allows us to travel beyond our own imagination; feel and experience things that we couldn't have reached without a book in our hands. We owe a lot to the great pens of the past and present and this blog is dedicated to them.

Poetry is an enjoyable form of literature. It is surprisingly easy to write a poem. Writers have plenty of freedom in terms of structure. They can even invent a new form of poetry if they are creative enough. Writers can also choose from a plethora of themes.

Classical literature and poetry are not endangered arts. Each year, despite the obvious progression of other art forms, the number of followers of classical literature increases and the reason is simple: it is universal. Whatever their age, these works remain actual and still describe our society.

Often readers tend to make angels or demons out of their favorite authors. But most authors, like the rest of us, lived right in the middle. Others had periods where they were more on the angel side or more on the demon side. Their attraction to the opposite is what makes them so interesting to read and talk to. I think this is also a major part of their empathy; they can understand dueling compulsions because they have experienced both sides themselves. You can tell the difference between an author who is only pretending to know about temptation and those for whom the dark calling is a daily reality.
We might think of one of the greatest “angels” of literature, Fyodor Dostoevsky. I’ve been reading about his life, and he seemed to be torn between two great loves; his Russian Orthodox faith, and gambling.
Those who know Dostevsky’s entire oeuvre won’t be surprised to read this. He did, after all, write a novella called “The Gambler.” Still, gambling is a major theme in many of his other works, even the great Brothers Karamazov. If you’re looking to see what Dostevsky is so excited about, njcasino.com has a lot of information about games and guides. It’s yet to make me write like the great Dostoevsky, but I can see what he’s on about with gambling!
